Dear MJ team members,

This isn’t business as usual, it’s a time of great stress and uncertainty. It’s also that moment in time to realise that the work we’re doing is critical.

The government of India has taken a bold step of declaring a nationwide lock down for 21 days to arrest the spread of COVID-19 pandemic. The lock down, whilst essential to ensure the larger safety of the Indian citizen, severely restricts the mobility of individuals. However, Pharmaceutical manufacturing, logistics and associated supply chain are exempt from this lockdown. We have already received the said permission in writing from the Maharashtra state government to classify both our API and formulation units as part of essential services. We have also taken necessary approvals from the respective Police stations to continue our operations.

MJ Bio is one of the largest manufacturer of Human Insulin for supplies in India and millions of patients are counting on MJ to provide them with this life saving product. We have made a promise to our customers and doctors and now it is upto us, to ensure that we do not break this promise.

We are taking all necessary precautions to ensure safe and hygienic work environment. Special transport to ensure safe distancing in transit, adequate stocks of hand sanitisers, face masks and gloves, hand guns to monitor temperature,food arrangement at the factory premise, temporary facility to reside near factory if required etc. are some of the care taken by the company to ensure your well being at the factory. I urge our members in critical functions like production, QC, QA, HR, engineering, logistics etc. to overcome their fears and come together to show their support in times of this distress.

There is no instruction manual for how to feel at a time like this, and I know this causes stress for everyone. My list of worries right now — like yours I’m sure — is long: from my own children, parents, family, to the safety of you, my colleagues, to those who are already very sick, and to the real harm that will be caused by the economic fallout across our communities. My own time and thinking is focused on COVID-19 and the economic stress that it will create for MJ and also for the country.
